Franz Ferdinand at MTelus – 16-08-2022

I say, Don’t you know? You say, You don’t know I say, Take me out. Yes I pretty sure you know those lyrics. And yes that means that I had the chance to shoot Franz Ferdinand at Mtelus this week.

Franz Ferdinand is the kind of band that I know because they were looping on radio channels at some point but I never really listen to them. But it is always a pleasure to see them live as the musicians are far from static, especially the singer that is jumping a lot !

It was also the opportunity to discover the opener for the show, vundabar, a really nice band that I would love to see playing a longer set.

From a photographer’s point of view, I am just a bit sad that the first three songs got almost always the same lighting pattern. I stayed for a couple more songs and they clearly had more lighting setup and some would have been interesting to shoot from the pit. Maybe another time !

If you are shooting them in a near future, find a spot face to the singer to be able to have him jumping in a leg stretch. I got one photo of this move, but I was too far on the right, so the shot is not as good as I would have liked.

Thank Thorium Mag, who allowed me to get to MTelus to shoot the event.

Let me know what you think about the photos!

You can find the rest of the gallery here.

For a full review of the show (in French) by the amazing Francis, it is here.

Have a good day.
